PA Turnpike Trainee Programs
Our unique Trainee Programs provide employment for college graduates interested in Engineering or IT positions. The program allows trainees to test drive disciplines within a given department and get placed in the concentration that best suits them, resulting in a permanent position.

Engineering Trainee Program
As an Engineering Trainee Program (ETP) hire, you will work for a period of time in each engineering discipline – roadway, bridge, traffic, environmental and construction – to learn from the best in the industry. Once the program is complete, ETP trainees become full-time employees in the discipline of their choice.

IT Trainee Program
Join our IT department and work with experts in GeoAnalytics, enterprise business solutions, technology infrastructure and cyber security among other areas. At the conclusion of the trainee program, you’ll have a clear understanding of all IT’s business units and how they interact — plus more familiarity with the work of other departments.

CEO Intern Fellows Program
The CEO Intern Fellows Program introduces college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates from underrepresented groups to careers in transportation. In addition to the opportunity to gain real work experience at the PA Turnpike, CEO Intern Fellows collaborate on a project addressing a significant issue in the transportation sector and present their findings to members of senior staff.
Take advantage of an opportunity to intern with senior executive leaders guiding a world-class, 552-mile interstate system. We offer positions in Engineering, Finance, Communications and Marketing, Human Resources, Public Safety and Maintenance for full-time upperclassmen. Work daily with decision makers at a $1.3 billion a year enterprise.
SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Our summer internship is a new program offering paid positions in either IT or Engineering. Applicants for these positions must be majoring in the respective field and entering at least their sophomore year of college.
SUMMER EMPLOYMENT
Our summer employment program provides opportunities to individuals 18 years and older with positions in most PA Turnpike departments. These positions are paid and do necessitate current enrollment in an academic program, trade school or military service.
